It is not clear what Liv Ullman means by “… there is no difference between us when human values are concerned”. It appears to me, on the contrary, that there are in fact significant differences between people and groups of people when it comes to human values.
For example, it appears to me that there are many different values, conflicting values, such as religious values, social values, and political values, and that there are many differences and conflicts in such values.
If there are and were no differences in values, then it appears to me that there would be none of the existing religious, social, and political, conflicts that exist in the world today and that have existed throughout the world in the past.
Therefore, it appears difficult, if not impossible, to reconcile Liv Ullman’s quoted statement with what I perceive to be both today’s reality and history. If my understanding of her quoted statement or my perception of today’s reality and world history is wrong, then I welcome clarification and correction.
